Be Prepared for Success with SEO

When you are ready to take that step of getting your web site, take into consideration the following items.  Not only will it help keep you focused, but helps your web site builder work his SEO Magic!
  1. What is your Niche?  It doesn't matter if you are selling houses or home made canned goods, know your audience and what they need.  Keep your keywords focused on what you have to offer.
  2. Prepare your web copy.  It's never a good idea to let your web developer fill in the words on your site.  Your web designer should make your site appealing, and focused on your product or service.  Take to time to write up what you want on each page.  Keep in mind your keywords!
  3. Have a logo!  If you have one, use it.  If not, have one created by your web site developer or a logo company.  There are many online and many are very reasonable.
  4. K.I.S.S.  Seriously, Keep It Super Simple.  You don't want to have so much happening on your homepage that your visitors get scared to go deeper.
  5. Other Links.  If you already have a blog, twitter or facebook account about your product/service, make sure and let your web site designer know.  These can easily be linked to your new web site and help add credibility.
  6. SEO Marketing.  If your web site developer doesn't do SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, you are not going to be easy to find.  If you like their work but they don't offer SEO, you might wont to hire someone or do it yourself with the help of others.
Your web site developer should be as excited about your new web site as you are.  Following the above suggestions will have you both on the same page.

Quality SEO Tips to follow

Google and the rest of the search engine sites are always redefining how they rank pages.  Here are some great strategies that work.

KEYWORDS!
The number one tool for higher rankings.  SEO Co-op, Seobook are great sites to investigate the keywords you want to use.  Remember to not only link your home page with these words but deep link them with other pages on your site.  Build your site around these and you will see success.
GOOGLE!
Lets be honest, Google is the king of search engines, make sure your sites are Google friendly and you have set up your site in Google's Webmaster Tools.
LINK BUILDING!
The most effective way to boost results is still link building.  Get link backs from relevant sites related to your market or targeted area.  "I SHARE IF YOU SHARE" is a great strategy.
QUALITY!
I can not emphasize how important Quality is over Quantity.  Having 5 pages of interesting, Quality information beats 100 pages of, well, crap!
ARTICLE/BLOG MARKETING!
Write up 500 to 700 word articles with links back to specific pages on your site.  Leverage sites like Squidoo, Hubpages, facebook, LinkedIn to increase traffic and awareness.

MASTERPLAN!
If you want to be successful, you need a plan, a masterplan.
Step One:  Relevance - Keep your site and content relevant to the topic or niche you are pursuing.  Straying from that can and will cause a page rank drop.
Step Two:  Authority - Know WHAT you are talking about!  Your site and content must reflect that you are the authority on the subject.
Step Three:  Conversions - having 2000 visitors a day is nice unless NO ONE BUYS ANYTHING!  You want to convert as many visitors into buyers as possible.

SEO is not as difficult as you might think.  It can take a little time to get all your ducks in a row. But time taken now reaps great rewards later!

SEO and the Right Way

If you have been doing SEO for longer than a minute, you know there are a myriad of “ways to do things.” Some of these ideas are great; some are just, well, NOT so good!

Search engines have been around for around for about 10 years now. In this decade, a job market called Search Engine Optimization (SEO) was born. It has evolved to keep up with Google, Yahoo, Bing and the other search sites as they change the way they rate pages.

Let’s take a look at some of the some items to be aware of.

- Keyword density: Flooding your web pages with your keywords can actually do more harm than good. Flooding primarily makes your page hard to read. It decreases the quality of your content and the search engines may consider your pages “spammy”, thus lowering your page rank.
- META tags: Loading keyword into you page headers is a good idea as long as you don’t FLOOD it with the same word over and over. Keep keywords relevant and consistent to what you offer.
- Links: Link Exchange sites are usually, ok, hardly EVER a good idea. Search Engines keep a list of these sites and if you are on them, down goes your ranking.
- Search Engine Submissions: In the beginning, submitting to a search engine was a time consuming process, but needed to get a good place in the rankings. Now days, search engines tend to look for new pages and sites automatically. Manual submission is quite easy if you feel that their spider is taking too long.
- Unique content: Offer your visitors high quality content that is relevant to your site. Unique and original content is the best way to attract visitors, and search engines, to your pages.
- Voice of Authority: Offering an authoritative voice is a great way to increase your links and page ranking. Know what you are talking about. Offer interviews with others who are also involved in your specialty and post them.
- Networking: Create networking associations with others in and around your field of expertise. Add links to them and ask them to link to you.
- Robots.txt: Be sure your crawler file, robots.txt, is updated, accurate and configured properly so your site catalogue correctly. Build your site crawler-friendly. Remember, crawlers, aka spiders, are very primitive beings, always choose simplicity over complexity.

Always have a plan when you are working SEO. Just loading pages with keywords, using graphics with an image map or too much flash can kill your page rankings.

Take the time now, get better page rankings faster!

Push Your Competition Off the PAGE!

As I work SEO for myself and others, there is only one thing better than getting to that elusive number one spot, being in the top 3! The goal with this tip is to "push" your opponent off the page and thereby doubling your business dealings.

I learned somewhere that 87% of search engine traffic for a given keyword is allocated from occupying the Number 1 location in the search engine results page (SERP). I want to dispense a quick method to double your SERP positions and to improve the likelihood of your SEO keyword conversions.

Rankings the the premise for SEO; in order for SEO to be effective, it must produce ranking on the first page in search engines. This is the grand slam for any SEO optimizer. Once you have a top 10, you can use whats called the buddy system for lateral linking and pull other keywords into the spotlight.

The algorithm's used by search engines pay particular attention to a page's ability to offset all the unlikeness of a opponent's page and deem your page worthy above all others for a given search keyword or key phrase.

Each market has thier own metrics but the reality is the same once your page is in a top 3, better yet Number 1, 2, AND 3, in Google, Yahoo! and Bing. The fasted way to get there, in the top 3 in a search on your keyword, is to get a link from someone in those spots already to your site!

Doesn't matter where the link comes from, rankings are by the page and there is a definate daisy-chain effect. Links from others pages form a dynamic give and take relationship. This citation from a page ranked 1,2,3 or 4 to yours can give you the power boost needed to bypass those not aware of the power in linking.

Start off by paying attention to the search engine results page (SERP), this is the listing of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a keyword query entered by internet users. Where are you? Who is above and who is in the top three. Link build with them!
Query your keywords on Google and see who has the top 3 spots. Validate these competitiors are still around.
Use keyword research to find "related keywords" based on the Number 1 ranked link from the page that ranks and add it to a new page. Use approximate anchor text and overlapping keywords to boost your new page. Let that page get indexed, then see where you land!

Pages stuck? Give them a SHOVE!

You have your page up and looking good but your not getting the response from Google, Yahoo! and Bing that you thought you would get.  Sounds like you have a page stuck.  Lets review some SEO Tips to get that page back on track.

Search engines measure the gravity, frequency, revance and link clusters of pages.  You need and want IP diversity, or links from a variety of sources, to provide the appropriate signals to search engines.  Getting links from authority sites is a great way to rank higher.  Understand, authority sites tend to only link to other authority sites, but with the right tact, you can acquire an authority link.  Make sure your site is up to stuff before requesting that kind of link.

Ok, so lets see if we can help out that stagnet page...
1.  Lets start by running your keyword or key phrase in GOOGLE and see how you stack up.  Head over ro Google and type in "site:" then your domain name, space, then your keyword or phrase.  Like this...  Site:WaibelOnline.com Access ( My Search )  All 7 of my pages came up with that keyword.  No stagnation there!  Repeat this process with your other keywords and phrases to assure you are being seen.

2.  Keep an eye on synonyms and related search results.  These can become a vauable resource for additional or replacement keywords.

3.  Blog or submit an article.  Use your keywords and the synonyms/ related words you found in #2.

4.  Web Content Syndication: RSS and SEO kind of go hand in hand.  Set your page up so others can get your headlines and updates.  I recommend PRESSfeed.  The have a great program and provide online newrooms in one of three levels.

5.  Do it AGAIN!  The world wide web is constantly changing, updating and moving.  Almost as if it was alive.  Keep your links diverse, boost your less compative ketwords and work on a strategy that will build an abundance of links to your target page(s).

Working your own SEO marketing and looking for idea's and co-operation?  I invite you to join us at SEO Co-op.  We are a group of like minded people wanting and willing to share our insites and links!
Just tell them Rob Waibel set you!

Need to spruce up that web site but are at a loss as to how to do it?  Waibel Online can help you with out draining your pockets.

5 plans to succeed in SEO

Here are 5 little tips on SEO.

1. - Submit your website to the search engines.
2. - Make TINY LITTLE changes to your website. You do NOT want to make big changes. This is because every time you make a change one of three things is going to happen
a. Nothing is going to happen (unlikely)
b. Will improve your rankings
c. It can hurt your rankings
If you do something that hurts your rankings you want to know exactly what that element was that adversely affected your rankings and UNDO IT. If you make too many changes you will never be able to know what caused your rankings to drop.

3. - Be patient; search engines normally update every few weeks

4. - Use ranking tools or monitors to see the result these changes had on your rankings.

5. - Start the process all over again.

Waibel Online and SEO co-op are great resources for more information on SEO keywords and helping you further your site.

Social Media = Avalanche of Customers?

In 1989, "Field of Dreams" gave us that great quote, "If you build it, he will come." Since then, we have regenerated it up a little to "If you build it, THEY will come." In the world of the internet, this is not at all times the case.

First off, if you just handmade your website for your commercial enterprise, getting noticed can take a while. So what do you do? Build connections by using trusted and true internet marketing tools.

This takes exertion on your part. Doesn't matter what type of business you have, you will need to get your hands dirty to connect and converse. Communicating with people is as simple as joining Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, Myspace, Tagged, SEO Co-op!... Anywhere people communicate online, you want to be apart of.

Ok, you got your pages up in the social areas, now what? Simple, talk to everyman! Check out their profiles, posts, what games they play, learn about and talk about these things. Basically, pay attention to them.

Now the hook is set, offer tips, howto's, videos, blog posts. Show them how you can assist them and bring benefit to their life.

GIVE, Give, give. Give them a bit of what you have. Make them unable to say “No Thanks”, but instead say “More please and can I tell my friends about you?” Hook is set and you have reeled them in. This does not mean you conclude, oh no, it means you are on the right track. Keep a good customer documentation, notify with them, keep your tips and howto’s coming.

You can blog better

When it comes to SEO, blogging is a must. You want to communicate what you know and how you can help your visitor with whatever it is you are offering.
Did you like that last comment?
Do you know WHY you liked it? In a word, "YOU"!
The most important keyword you can have in a blog post or twitter post is the word “You”. “You” makes the post familiar. Using generic words like them, they, us, me and I are not as charismatic.
Make your articles focused on the reader, not the writer OR the product. You can only motivate your reader when they think you are talking directly to them.
Let’s be honest, people are basically interested in fulfilling their own needs. If you don’t appease them, aren’t interesting to them, offering them value, they will not be back, they will find that post that does.
So, you change your post to be directed to the reader. What happens? YOU become the next viral buzz!
Next time you blog, before you post it, count the numbers of “you” words. Count the “I” and “me” words and adjust. Make the post about and for your reader.
